Role in WeValue team

Yangcheng Zhang is a PhD student (2024-2028) under Prof. Harder at Fudan University, with a background in sociology. He brings experience of qualitative research to the team, and has already acquired field experience in WeValue InSitu in 20+ workshops in Nepal. His work involves developments of WeValue for the localization of the ESG indicator system used internationally for businesses and risk assessment. This has parallels in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Social Impact Assessment(SIA). This work lies under the bigger umbrella of the team’s goal to contribute to significant ESG revisions, and development of indicator systems which are more aligned to the Chinese concept of ‘Ecological Civilization’, which has similarities to Sustainable Development but emphasizing balance, and is more all-encompassing. As a mainland Chinese team member, Yangcheng will help the team ensure that the work can bridge China-West boundaries.


Profile

Yangcheng holds a MA in Social Work and Social Policy from Fudan University. During his studies, he participated in a National Social Science Foundation project concerning: ‘The Social Space of Highly-skilled International Immigrants in Shanghai’. Yangcheng also holds a BE degree in the field of Fashion Design and Engineering from Donghua University.
